The Reed Square Foundation thanks Richmond City arborist Karl Pokorny for identifying the trees in Reed Square. During a picnic in Reed Square, Mrs. Rossie Fisher (Mrs. Reed’s daughter) recalled her mother’s particular fondness for the Kentucky Coffee Tree and the Scholar Tree. On her farm in Manakin-Sabot, Mrs. Reed planted 175 varieties of trees.
- Kentucky Coffee Tree (Gymnocladus dioica)
- Southern Magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora)
- Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis)
- Nellie R. Stevens Holly (Ilex hybrida ‘Nellie R. Stevens’)
- Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia fauriei)
- Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida)
- Eastern Hophornbeam (Ostrya virginiana)
- Ironwood (Carpinus caroliniana)
